inquisitor :fear:
Not enough, an Inquisitor (FM) is essentially an Executioner (FM) with Vigilante (FM) abilities and a modified (arguably improved) win condition.
It still does not represent the true “upholder of justice” (RL) well enough! (Because “What the heck is [justice] in FM anyway?”)
oh actually i have a good “Vigilante” flavored role lemme find it
(this isn’t the final role but it’s close)
basically the idea is that the Vigilante blames the death of an innocent Town member on someone and goes to kill them because they killed the Townie, not the guy.
it’s a little bit of a “my own perception of justice” but that’s what a Vigilante is anyways so
it’s actually quite weak imo, at least as far as killers go, but that’s why it’s not the final role
Basically free 3KP under the assumption that the user can consistently and correctly predict the next day’s execution…
Not good enough. This is “some weirdo who kills people whom they blame another person’s death on”. Forget “justice upholder”; that is not even my view of vigilante.
Though… now I have more ideas on what the “justice upholder” might be. (Suddenly I remembered the existence of Judge and now I have to avoid making a role that is essentially a rebranded Judge.)
oh vigilante specifically means like, outside the Law so
also yeah no whoever is able to do this is a fucking god
it is balanced around them getting at most 2 kills its just that we generally cap TK at 3 kills in this setup
What you have is no different than a 3-Success-Burnout Gambler.
Like, it’s not impossible to exhaust it, but when I was taught how to design setups by (among others) Proph, I was taught that “just because it is improbable doesn’t mean it is impossible” (or something along those lines).
. . .
Wait a minute.
If someone got lynched by the masses.
And the victim was innocent.
Then they are responsible for that death.
…isn’t the ideal role I wanted for “the upholder of justice” just Judge in that case? (That is, after adding the condition that the user can only shoot if the victim was innocent.)
oh no totally just
it averages out enough to ~two kills i think, unless they have Skill in which case yeah they deserve three
the biggest downside is just that it has to decide its targets in advance
oh yeah no this is pretty good flavor-wise
and close to what i was going for
the executions aren’t Executions, at least not to a judge, they’re mob murders. that’s why they were called lynchings for a long time but y’know
they might be by Popular Vote but the Judge sure as hell doesn’t think it’s lawful or just
so he can kill someone who was part of mob violence
obviously it’s not perfect given the fact the judge can still vote but nothing in FM is so i think that’s really close
oh and that it doesn’t kill if a mafia member was killed
Genuine skill check.
Hydra think twice
You’re welcome
