Eh my reads have been very inaccurate in a lot of my recent games so good chances they’re inaccurate again. So don’t sheep me or anything. I feel obliged to make an attempt.
Think of the Library like an actual library. A real library has sections. Natural Sciences, literature, arts, humanities, ect.
Each of these sections has what is called a Patron Librarian in charge of that section and all the books contained in it
I’m not going to like spoil Lob Corp and Ruina here but these Patron Librarians are recognizable characters. For example this is Tiphereth

Yeah there is. Burning books is how you get pages to use in fights. Pages are like cards in your deck, and they correspond to iconic attacks used by the guests when they fought you in the Library before being turned into a book

Uhh not really. Burning books just means getting pages, I think the equivalent here is information.
Burning Geburas book of the Red Mist in game would get you an attack used by Gebura or her like…outfit for lack of a better word.
Here we are just getting information about her role so it’s roughly similar.
So it’s played straight, there’s no hidden death mechanics. If you see something that says turning someone into a book that probably means killing them so keep an eye out for that
