[Misc] Civilization - Signups - 1 / infinite

Civilization

This is a minimalistic 4X Forum Game.

Players sign up using an anonymous alias (just like in EIMM).

The game is Free-For-All. There are multiple win conditions, and up to 2 winners (explained later). The game is split into 15 rounds, each lasting 24 hours. This means the game will last a maximum of 15 days.

All you need to do is submit a few actions once every 24 hours. You don’t need to talk to other players at all, if you don’t want to (though you can).

5 PM EST is when each round will start. 4 PM EST is the deadline to submit actions.

Units and Buildings

You start the game with 1000 Villagers and 100 Gold.

Every round, you may purchase any amount of units and buildings that you can pay for. You do this all in one submission (like submitting actions in Mafia).

Units:

(Each one of your Villagers creates 1 new Villagers every round.)

(those will be explained later)

Buildings:

Espionage:

Every round, you may target any number of enemy civilizations with your spies and soldiers. (You submit this together with your purchases, all in one submission)

When sending a spy to an enemy, if your level of espionage is GREATER than the level of anti-espionage of your target, you will privately receive the following information:

  1. What units they have and how many.
  2. What buildings they have and how many.
  3. How much Gold they have.

If your level of espionage is LOWER or EQUAL to the level of anti-espionage of your target, you receive no information.

In either case, your spy dies after being sent. (Essentially they are 1-shot)

Battle:

Every round, you may send any amount of your soldiers to attack any amount of players of your choice. Or you can keep them at home to defend you.

When soldiers of different players meet, they automatically battle. Each soldier kills one soldier; they trade 1-for-1.

When attacking a player, if your soldiers outnumber theirs, you will loot that player.

When looting, each looting soldier will steal 1 random civilian unit (Villager or Merchant), and bring it back home to you.

Example:

A attacks B with 500 soldiers. B has 200 soldiers home. B loses 200 soldiers. A loses 200 soldiers. A has 300 looting soldiers. They return home, and they bring back 300 random civilian units (Villagers or Merchants), stolen from B.

Rules and Mechanics:

  • Until round 2 (including), players cannot attack.
  • Until round 6 (including), if a player gets looted, this will be publicly announced, and nobody can attack them the next round.
  • Until round 10 (including), if a player gets looted, the looting aggressor can not attack the defender the next round. (not publicly announced)
  • If all of your civilian population (Villagers + Merchants) gets captured, you are immediately eliminated from the game.
  • Combat can only be 1-on-1. In case multiple players attack the same target, the attacker with the highest amount of attacking units gets the attack. Everyone else’s soldiers will return home on the same round (they will be ready to defend immediately). They will be informed this happened.
  • When defending, you will be told how many troops did your enemy have, and what is their alias.
  • When attacking, if you lose, you will NOT be told how many troops did the defending player have.

Civilizations

When signing up, you can choose one of 3 different civilizations. Each one has unique bonuses.

Also, reminder that everybody starts with 1000 Villagers and 100 Gold.

Catch-up mechanic

Starting from round 11, each player may privately submit an enemy alias as their Nemesis (alongside their other submissions). Multiple people may target the same enemy.

You may change the submission every round.

At the start of the round, for each person who elected you as their Nemesis, you receive -10% debuff on all your production this round (stacks multiplicatively with buffs, and additively with other Nemesis nerfs) - Villager production, Gold production, Soldier production. Up to -50% maximum.

You will be told how many people targeted you as their nemesis, but you will not be told their player names or aliases.

Win conditions:

  1. Most amount of total Gold produced throughout the game, at the end of Round 15
  2. Most amount of total war points earned throughout the game, at the end of Round 15

1 enemy soldier killed = 1 war point
1 looting friendly solider = 1 war point (if your attack is overwhelming, and not all looting soldiers have enough to loot, only the soldiers that looted contribute a war point)

Up to 2 players can be joint winners. Or it can be only 1.

Alternatively, if everyone but 1 player is eliminated (due to looting), then that player gets a Last Man Standing win.

Order of Operations:

Start of Round (Round 1 is excluded):

  1. Nemesis debuff applied
  2. Villagers producing extra Villagers triggers
  3. Merchants producing Gold triggers

Middle of Round (submit your actions here. Lasts 23 hours, 1 hours before deadline)

  1. Submit purchasing buildings and units. Issue orders to existing soldiers and spies. All in one submission. Note: When you purchase a spy, it’s not instant. You submit the purchase, and you get it end of round. You can move it next round.

End of Round

  1. Receive your purchased units and buildings. Barracks generate defending soldiers.
  2. Resolve attacking armies heading to destination. If multiple attackers, send lesser armies back home immediately to defend.
  3. Combat happens simultaneously. Calculate casualties and Looting.
  4. Looting players receive captured Civilian populations back at home.
  5. Eliminate players who have 0 Civilian population
  6. Spies give information of the current state of the player after all of this has been done

Extra notes and rules:

The civilization of each alias will always be public info

When I give the players their reports, I will also tell them how many other players are ahead of them in terms of the 2 victory conditions

All players are allowed to speak in the public thread. No private communication

Unofficial alliances are allowed

Not allowed to copy paste / screenshot host information

When signing up, please remember to just write “/in”, and PM me your alias and your civilization

5 PM EST is when each round will start. 4 PM EST is the deadline to submit actions.

In case a player doesn’t submit actions after Round 3 (and I suspect they’re treeing), I will spend all their Gold to buy Barracks, for them, and do nothing else

Round to nearest integer any time there’s rounding

When an alias is defeated, the identity of the player is revealed

(more to be added in case I’ve forgotten something)
