i think my main issue with this setup is largely the same one i had with odyssey which is lack of theory of mind in the design angle

like theres a ton of stuff with the abnos that was intended to be taken as a given that simply just could not be from a town perspective (don’t touch me being 100% safe in terms of observation levels, abnos not being able to kill, kod blessing protecting from dark flame, etc)

which made the design more scumsided than it was intended

yeah that’s true. Like we had no clue what level of chaos we should expect from abnormalities or what they can possibly be till be observed them and then realized the real power they had.

but yes odyssey was also scum sided

I think hosts also overestimated how much scum would be affected from not knowing the abnomities and buffed them a lot to compensate for it

Aleph was our catch up mechanic in a game where we didn’t need it and unfortunately white aleph didnt stop night kills

Observation Level 1

In Containment: Punishing bird acts like a bird.

Breaches When: Someone commits a sin.

While Breaching: They will be deterred.

In Containment: Punishing bird flutters around.

Breaches When: A player uses a day ability that [REDACTED].

Breaches When: The player with the blessing dies.

While Breaching: The player who killed the one with the blessing (in the case of execution, the one who placed the hammer/last vote) may choose a player - protective effects on that player no longer work while the Knight of Despair is breaching. If the Knight of Despair breaches via an ability, the player who caused it uses this instead.

The conductor not only corrects musical errors, but is also responsible for creating the best ensemble and taking command of the music.

Your E.G.O weapon has began to slowly modify your psyche, having an effect on your motives to be similar to that of the Abnormality from which the E.G.O weapon was forged.

Your power reverberates much like a crescendo, with an angelic descent of a diminuendo. But there’s always room for an encore. You have four movements: one, two, three, four. At the end of every night, progress a movement. When your movement changes, you will be notified.

Day Ability: Tacet (2 Uses)

In Containment: When an Abnormality breaches, one player may choose to Request a bullet from Der Freischutz in the respective cycle. (Multiple players attempting to do so will result in [REDACTED]. After obtaining the bullet, the player may choose to fire it to instantly suppress any breaching Abnormality, at the cost of [REDACTED]. After the bullet is obtained, another bullet may not be requested for two cycles.

Breaches When: Seven players have died.

While Breaching: Players who [REDACTED] cannot Request a bullet.

Observation Level 3

In Containment: When an Abnormality breaches, one player may choose to Request a bullet from Der Freischutz in the respective cycle. (Multiple players attempting to do so will result in only one obtaining the bullet). Breaching Effects: Randomly attempts to brutalize 2 other Abnormalities or players at the end of each day. Brutalized Abnormalities are suppressed. During this time, they do not gain [REDACTED] and the [REDACTED] from We Can Change Anything does not interact with [REDACTED]. A player can only enter We Can Change Anything once per day, and only one player per day may enter.

Breaches When: A player without an alternative version of their character enters We Can Change Anything.

When Breaching: Their ads become significantly more focused on what you are, and not what you can become. And what you are is disgusting, ugly filth.

Don't Touch Me (ZAYIN)

In Containment: Eagerly awaits for someone to push the button.

Breaches When: Oh, please, no, don’t touch that button.

When Breaching: You’ve pressed it numerous times and you still have something you want to know about it?

In Containment: A player may attempt to push the button during any cycle. Whenever the button is pushed, an announcement is made.

Breaches When: A player pushes the button in any other circumstance other than [REDACTED] of the [REDACTED] phase, once per [REDACTED], per player.

When Breaching: If the button is attempted to be pushed a total of [REDACTED] times before being surpressed, the [REDACTED] player to hit the button dies. This counter is [REDACTED] if Don’t Touch Me is surpressed. If a player ever dies from pushing the button, Don’t Touch Me cannot ever be pressed again.

In Containment: The first two times a player dies, and their alignment is uncleaned, they instead do not enter dead chat and may talk in any chats they would be eligible to talk in while alive for the duration of the earliest possible day phase. If they are non-Town, they cannot talk during the day.

Breaches When: An uncleaned Town member is voting themselves, and is executed, or otherwise kills themselves somehow.

When Breaching: When the next uncleaned Mafia member dies, they are permenantly treestumped in Mafia Chat - if they were a Lost Wolf, they join it. Funeral of Dead Butterflies surpresses itself once this happens.

In Containment: A portrait not of this world, but of another.

Breaches When: It is opposite day.

When Breaching: Shows decrepit images only the wicked understand.

Observation Level 2

In Containment: Every day, four random players appear on the Portrait of Another World - one was [REDACTED], one was [REDACTED], one was [REDACTED] and one was [REDACTED]. [REDACTED].

Breaches When: Portrait of Another World is capable of showing a real world.

When Breaching: The portrait begins to leak a sickly, distorted image only understood by the Mafia. [REDACTED].

Observation Level 3

In Containment: Every day, four random players appear on the Portrait of Another World - one was protected, one was investigated, one was occupied and one was targeted by a miscellanous action last night. If nobody was targeted by any of the applicable actions, Portrait of Another World simply makes up a target at random, even if they weren’t targeted by such an action.

Breaches When: Portrait of Another World is capable of showing a real world.

When Breaching: The portrait begins to leak a sickly, distorted image only understood by the Mafia. They privately learn the real world. The Portrait of Another World surpresses itself once it shows a fake world.

Breaches When: Ignition is reached.

When Breaching: The flames are further stoked.

Observation Level 2

In Containment: 3 players start with Embers. Players who [REDACTED] also gain Embers. Once one of the starting 3 players [REDACTED], this is announced alongside the starting player who triggered this.

Breaches When: All players have Embers.

When Breaching: The Mafia’s factional kill becomes a factional douse & ignite, both douse & ignite usable in the same night. Once Ardor Blossom Moth is suppressed, all doused players immediately die and [REDACTED].

Observation Level 3

In Containment: 3 players start with Embers. Players who visit them or are visited by them also gain Embers. Once one of the starting 3 players spread Embers to a player, this is announced alongside the starting player who triggered this.

Players may only have 1 item at a time - if they take another, their previous one gets given back to The Adult who Tells Lies.

Breaches When: A player who obtains an item [REDACTED]

While Breaching: The 4 items are randomly given out to players, including items that were already taken. [REDACTED]

Item effects
Heart of Lead: The player becomes immune to roleblocking and redirection, but their abilities are delayed by 1 night.
Sawdust Brain: The player’s investigative actions may target another player at night, but each action produces 2 results - one being false.
Potion of Courage: The player gains an extra charge of their limited usage non-killing abilities (these are lost when the item is lost), but their unlimited usage abilities are set to 1 charge and cannot be given more.
Homebound Shoes: The player now targets an extra player with their night actions, but 1 of the targets must be themselves. Self-targeting protective abilities fail.
