How much experience with PF1e and/or other TTRPGs do you have? (It’s totally fine if you’re a beginner, but it’s helpful to me to know how much background knowledge I should be assuming you have about the mechanics of the game.

The general scenario I have for the beginning of the game (roughly corresponding to the ~level 1 portion) can flexibly slot into a number of different places in the setting. Assuming this ends up working well enough to last past that point, is there anything in particular you’d be interested in exploring in the rest of the campaign? (If you’re not familiar with the Golarion setting, that’s totally fine – “I think it would be fun to do a lot of political intrigue” or “I hate political intrigue, I want to spend a lot of time exploring cool and unique locations” or “I’m interested in exploring [such and such theme]” or whatever is still a valid and useful answer here.)

I have decent experience with 3.5e and pf2e. The latter moreso.

How do you all do character creation? Do we all discuss about it beforehand, all show up with a completely hidden slate, or something else?

I think by necessity it will be as a group since there’s so many people unfamiliar with the system

So, once we’ve decided on a general location, I’ll give some more information about the specific area where you’ll be starting (the sort of things your characters would know), and walk people step-by-step through how to make a character. People are encouraged to discuss their characters with other people, so that you can build characters who have preexisting social relationships and connections to each other, and so that you can avoid coming in with two characters who feel basically the same niche if it will make you sad to be sharing a niche with someone. But discussing your characters with each other isn’t required if you really don’t want to.

(you can also start discussing your ideas for characters now if you want, that’s totally fine)

You’re welcome to ask me as many questions as you want during character creation (either rules questions or general advice questions). If you don’t have a specific reason to ask privately, I’d prefer that you ask publicly (other people might have the same question).

Everyone will need to send me a copy of their character sheet so that I can look it over, but you can keep it secret from the other characters if you want

If you end up unhappy with how you built your character (e.g. you picked a feat that looked really cool, but it actually turned out to be useless), talk to me and we can work something out (possibly involving retroactive changes to your build).
