You open the door. On the other side, you see a young woman, pack slung over her shoulder, holding a chisel in one hand and touching the shutters with the other as she tries to determine whether the coast is clear.

Everyone roll initiative! (no surprise round for either side, since everyone was basically Aware of the potential for imminent combat)
