[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

((Yeah, uh. Meeting people of nobility was definitely not something Arius expected, because otherwise he’d have Presti prepared.))

((He did think Kamilla would be either captured or killed, but he didn’t think that there would be a trial in another barony.))

Arius simply eats in silence, paying attention on how others behave and mimicking their behavior. He must not forget that he is here as a witness. He is not one of the people who captured the murderer of an ex-magistrate, but one who unintentionally alerted her and her father. Yet despite that, the goal was still to save the family of blacksmiths, or at least try to lessen the damage as much as possible.

“Only a little - I’ve helped with our traps before, but my primary responsibility is actively searching for threats (and defeating them if possible),” Drakor replied. “My sister helps maintain the defenses a lot more.”

“Of course, of course. Still, I’ve found that a well-placed trap can be the difference between victory and disaster…”

The baron launches into his own story about working together with his retinue to defeat a pack of owlbears that was terrorizing the barony. The way he tells it, he makes sure to give credit to the people he was working with for their contributions — he’s careful to mention the critical moment when one of his companions healed his horse when it was on the brink of death, or the archer who landed a perfect shot on an owlbear before it ran them down.

“…but what saved us, in the end, were the snare traps. Simple, really — the first trap I ever learned — but I had to modify them in the moment to account for the size of the creatures, and it took every ounce of experience I had to get them set up in time. But the beasts stumbled right into them, and after that it was just a matter of picking them off from range.”

(From the story, it seems like he has quite a bit of combat experience — not surprising, since protecting their lands from monsters is generally regarded as one of the responsibilities of the nobility.)

Wanderer shows clear interest in the stories through his facial expressions.

This is genuine. Pulurans love stories. Literally everything has countless stories attached to it.

He turns to you as he finishes his story. “How about you? Do you have any stories to share from your own travels?”

(could I please roll perception on the baron’s daughter? what does she look like, and what is she doing at the moment?)

(you can definitely roll perception, you will get a description either way but the level of detail/information will be affected by your result)

(don’t worry you won’t have to go too in detail.)

Halina looks to be in her early twenties, more or less. She’s wearing a silk gown dyed a vivid green, with bronze-colored trim and matching embroidery, although you aren’t sitting close enough to get a good look at what the actual design of the embroidery. She seems to be wearing some sort of sword by her side, but once again, it’s hard to get a good look. Her long, dark brown hair has been tied back in a braid, a relatively practical choice compared to the elaborate hairstyles one sometimes sees adopted as symbols of status.

At the moment, she appears to be sitting at the table, eating dinner and listening to the conversation; she seems perfectly happy to let others share their stories.

After summarising everything I can, I look away in order to not look like I’m staring.

He didn’t expect to be called on.

Inhale. You’re trying to impress while also remaining truthful. Can’t talk about the murder. So…demon story? Yeah, demon story.

“I have many stories from the lands of the Worldwound, for it is there that I call my birthplace.” Putting a clear effort into the delivery, he continues. “In the Worldwound, the land itself is chaotic and unruly. One day, I was leaving from the monastery alongside a mentor, searching for supplies that an elder had divined the presence of. My mentor was wise, and myself foolish. It was unsurprising that the Worldwound in its vileness would separate us…”

He tenses

“I was afraid. I thought I was going to die. But once again the Worldwound played a cruel trick, for I was at the site of the supplies. I faced a different terror in that moment, for I thought that the supplies wouldn’t get back to the monastery. That…something we needed would go unfound, for my foolish self would know not how to return. Panicked, I looked to the heavens.”

The tension hits its peak.

“The Wyrm. The selfsame constellation that watched over my birth. I felt a strange peace fall over me, like that which children feel around their parents. One after another, my mind found purchase with realizations.”

He holds out his hand, raising a finger.

“Though the Worldwound perverts the land, the stars are greater and may serve as navigation. Though I am weak, I can bring back that which is most important: a powerful ward of which I will not describe its nature. It may take long, but I had no other recourse.”

Tension releases completely.

“Of course, I am in the Worldwound no longer. You know how that story ends.”

Halina smiles at you. “We’re all very grateful to the brave defenders protecting the world from demons.”

The elven bodyguard sitting across from Bugibugi kind of looks like she wants to say something, but ultimately doesn’t.
