@discobot roll 1d20

(so about that)
normally you have to take 10 before the roll, but in this case we could reasonably interpret it as âyou spend a while Not Finding It, then take 10â?
(I donât intend for Finding Locations In A Town to be a major challenge or anything
)
(this is my quest for this session. my burden i must bear. you must-)
(âŚcan i take 10)
((*looks at Atlas fumbling*))
((Ye, nah. As soon as the âVisit the Booksellerâ crew is formed, we are going to Take 10.))
At first, you struggle to navigate the strange town â the streets arenât exactly laid out on a grid or anything, and you keep getting turned around. At one point, you end up in a really concerning alleyway that would definitely be a good place for someone to ambush you, but the rain is working on your side here; if this is in fact a common location for ambushes, all the would-be ambushers have decided to stay dry.
But eventually, you start to pick up on the cityâs patterns. It seems like wealthier businesses are much more likely to be located within the walled areas, and the jeweler that a baron stayed with would almost certainly be wealthy. You pass through the gates into the walled area (guarded, but not very aggressively â it seems like the guards here are mostly collecting taxes on traders, and you donât have anything like a wagon), and eventually manage to find the jewelry shop within a couple blocks of the belltower.
(gonna wait like 10 to see if anyone follows me then iâm gonna go in)

Canary waits to be⌠sufficiently dry. Then opens the door to the jewellers.
Janâs bookshop is located just outside the city walls, the building so close to the walls that itâs practically touching them. From the look of it, it seems that the bookshop is also his home, with the bookshop area being located on the first floor and his home being located on the second.
Apart from a few of the most popular books, which there are multiple copies of, most of the bookshopâs books are presented as single copies, with an estimated time listed (usually a few hours) for how long it would take to produce another copy. The shelves are labelled âHISTORY,â âRELIGION,â âMEDICINE,â âCOOKBOOKS,â and âOTHERâ; itâs strange to see a bookstore with the Medicine section separate from Religion, and even stranger that the âOtherâ section doesnât seem to have any fiction or poetry whatsoever.
Jan himself is a short, pallid man, wearing a wool cloak with a large hood pulled over his head, who gives you a nervous look as you walk in. âHello,â he says, his tone equally nervous. âCan I help you find anything?â
