[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

He’ll spook the child eating rocks by saying that rock monsters go after those who eat rocks.

“I don’t know much about what happens up north.”

(Your impression is that this is literally false, in the sense that he totally does hear stories about what’s going on up north from people who pass through his shop, and also false in implication, in the sense that he totally does have an opinion on Baron Dalin. If you had to guess, he seems surprised and a bit defensive on Dalin’s behalf, he doesn’t feel like your statement is vindicating his pre-existing impression/belief.)

Anger. Hospitality is a gift not to be exploited.

“What can a priest like myself do to help?”

(I checked and Ranta’s Witch had 20 int to Rika’s 18. Mogged. I wanted her to have ok wisdom and charisma bc character :/)

“Really? It was all we heard about for days.” Drakor said. “Feels like everything’s been going downhill ever since he took over. And don’t get me started on all the Rostlanders moving here - I haven’t heard him do anything about it.”

(time to get xenophobic!)

(to be clear, Drakor is not actually against them moving - he lives in the middle of nowhere and would be extremely unlikely to be affected, plus if any of them did manage to move to his village they could use the extra hands)

(srakor would never Lie to a bookkeeper like this… for shame.)

Regardless of her response, he pulls out the pictorial books from his bag and, free of charge, hands them out to the adults in groups that appear to have children.

It’s something.

Good news if you don’t want to wear paisley! It was in style, which is why they’ve got so much paisley in stock, but it’s going out of style, and now if you showed up in paisley it would make you look like you were a bit out of date/behind the times. For those who can afford it, the hot new trend is warp-printed silk, though those who can afford that probably weren’t buying paisley anyways (and it’s far from a universal trend, e.g. Baron Rodin and Halina’s silks were not warp-printed); the most popular current trend among those who can’t afford anything that expensive is a geometric pattern made up of squares with little circles inside, particularly if there are expensive dyes involved.

Elaborate jeweled hairpins are also back in style, but they don’t sell those at the fabric store.

Unsurprisingly, all these trends are stronger in the cities and towns, weaker in more rural areas, even among those within rural areas who can afford them.

the jeweler’s granddaughter had an elaborate hairpin of the sort that’s currently fashionable

(Approximately what kinda fabrics are we looking at for the 10g cost of courtier’s outfit materials?)

The child makes an “:O” face with his mouth and drops the pebble (which he had just “sneakily” picked up again). “Don’t want to be eated!”

She bites her lip. “…That depends, are you strong enough to make them leave?”

He looks rather taken aback. “You do realize we’re in Rostland, young man? Everything south of the river, that’s Rostland territory. As for the southerners moving in… as long as they’ve got good character and stay on the right side of the law, I don’t have a problem with them.”

(Your impression is that that ‘if’ qualifier is intended to be a pretty significant qualifier, not a claim that he’s basically happy about the vast majority of the people who are showing up)

He frowns.

“Likely not currently. But…”

He is resolved. He speaks with a belief he has not yet displayed.

“I swear on the stars I will do what I can to make it happen.”

Drakor held up his hands. “Sorry, I misspoke. All the same, I’d like someone in charge to do something.”

He glanced at the others, trying to gauge if they were ready to leave.

(I’m done but fine pausing our part of the story until @Zone_Q11 + @Amelia are free)

hey, AoN, give me your fabric prices. surely they will make sense and be internally consistent, right?

[…]

I’m going to say you can get adequate silk for an outfit at that price even though this is arguably false by the prices printed in Ultimate Equipment

“That’s very kind of you to say,” she says. “…and thank you for the book.”

He nods, before leaving.
