(is there anything about bloodline powers in here)?
The author doesnât use that exact term (instead drawing a broader distinction between âspellsâ and âother things sorcerers can do that are not spellsâ), but there are definitely some references to specific things-sorcerers-can-do-that-are-not-spells! These are all described in a way that makes them sound like non-spells:
and the description here is sort of ambiguous as to whether itâs talking about a spell or a non-spell (possibly because the author didnât know, this guy is from centuries ago):
ââŠâ
Canary closes the book and lays it on the floor next to her. She looks pretty upset.
anything else you all want to do before heading to AmĂ©lieâs?
(nein)
AmĂ©lieâs Auberge seems to be more recent construction, and the style of the architecture is clearly Galtan-inspired, albeit in a way that to a close eye is more âtrying to evoke Galtan aestheticsâ than âactually how buildings look like in Galtâ â for example, thereâs a Galtan-style archway at the main door to the inn, despite approximately no actual Galtan inns randomly having superfluous archways, and conversely the actual materials used seem to be local timber. At the moment, the inn is charging two crowns per room per night, but each room is private and (despite the desk clerkâs attempts at upselling you) thereâs nothing actually stopping you from sharing. Each room comes with meals and daily housekeeping services.
(how big are the actual rooms?)
(most of them have two reasonably-large beds, plus some extra room on the floor. Squeezing everyone into a single room would be pretty tight, and you suspect the desk clerk would not be thrilled about the fact that youâre getting meals for seven adults for the price of a single room, but it would be possible, and probably more comfortable than trying to squeeze everyone into a single room at one of the tenement houses)
Canary turns to the group. ââŠif anyone is. Going to stay elsewhere. Because. I think someone said that.â Wanderer did. âYou should. Probably say something.â
ââŠIs three rooms alright with everyone?â
âIf everyone stays someone might have to sleep on the same bed, or. On the floor. With someone else. Sorry.â She does not actually expect everyone to stay, given what sheâs heard discussed.
(To clarify, are you going to amelies before the belltower?)
(iâm sorta assuming we all just Gathered.)
(yeah I am also assuming that you guys were able to Reconvene at the belltower)
(Oh)
(Ok)
Drakor raised a hand. âI have a bedroll. Sleeping on the floor is more than acceptable.â
âŠIn order to not. Bother the receptionist. Too long.
I signal for 3 rooms.
(-6 crowns)
âWouldnât two rooms will be-â
Paprika speaks under her breath enough that the innkeeper couldnât hear, but cuts herself off anyway. Itâs better to look like big spenders. Itâs worth it.
âOf course, madam. Right this way.â
The three rooms are all made up neatly, with warm blankets made of some kind of smooth Galtan fabric blend. The pillows have pillowcases embroidered with Galtan designs, though as with the archway those of you particularly knowledgeable about Galtan culture can identify that theyâre more evoking the idea of Galtan-ness than actually being typical embroidery patterns commonly found in Galt.
(anything you want to do before supper?)
Canary looks unprepared, seemingly assuming that one of you wouldâve brought it up before her. âWho wants. Which rooms?â
Wow, I havenât stayed somewhere this nice since we visited those relatives.
Paprika starts work on Canaryâs dress in her idle time while she waits for supper.
(âŠafter room division)
âDoes it matter? Theyâre all the same.â Paprika shrugs dismissively. âIâll be up late sewing.â
