[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

He’s planting barley. Specifically, he’s hand-broadcasting it, as is still a fairly common technique.

“You know what they say. ‘The dragon has two heads.’”

Canary visibly does not know ‘what they say’.

“Of course.” He gestures sweepingly at the empty room. “Lead the way.”

(Knowledge local re: these particular cultists?)

Wanderer is steely-faced.

The guard did it again. He’s trying to get the group to leave again. Still, the Wanderer saw more than enough to determine that the older guard is behind this but skilled enough to dance around his accusers.

How strange.

“Those of noble birth can be… fickle,” he clarifies. “Like a two-headed dragon. Or like our country, Rostlandic and Issian all at once.”

“ah.” Canary looks a little embarrassed that he picked up on her not having the requisite knowledge to understand the metaphor.

“Thank you. And. For your time.”

And in all this the Wanderer questions his own competitiveness. There is something to be learned from Rika’s approach to situations, not revealing her own stance immediately.

It’s effective, especially when the foe has defenses that cannot simply be overcome.

What then?

Find the cultists themselves? That may be the correct play, actually.

From what you know, the cult of Flauros isn’t exactly common around here. You don’t think he’s lying about the story he previously told, but you doubt it’s a particularly large cult. Honestly, the most confusing part is how a cult like this would have gotten started up again — someone must have been first, and Flauros isn’t one of those gods who’s so well-known that their would-be cultists are already aware of their existence, like Lamashtu or Norgorber or Urgathoa.

Mel is also planting barley, using the same technique. Unlike Varl, she’s got a baby strapped to her body in a sling. Both she and the baby have wispy brown hair, and her sling is embroidered with repeated spirals evoking the holy symbol of Pharasma. At first, she doesn’t seem to particularly notice that you’re approaching her in particular, nor does she initiate conversation.

I’ll bite.

“Is this the first time a cult to Flauros has done anything notable in Hazel Ford in recent memory?”

I think she’s using too much seeds. “Excuse me?” My voice comes out small, and I hold back the urge to cough.

“First that I know of since the incident I mentioned earlier,” says the older one. “But it’s not like they’d be public about their worship, so they could have been hiding.”

The younger one shakes his head in disagreement. “There’s no way they could hide from the Watch for long!”

Drakor watched the conversation with concern. Something is wrong here, he thought.

Things were so much easier when he had a threat he could bury his warhammer in. But this? A threat that was obviously present but concealed somewhere? This required discerning. And Drakor was wise enough to recognize that he was not wise.

He watched, and waited.
