(in short I’m saying that under arius’s logic the conclusion is more that the presence of the prints doesn’t indicate guilt or innocence)
(he has a +13 to bluff so ymmv)
“Well it seems my conversation partner believes you’re likely the culprit.”
He scoffs.
Arius stays silent about the blacksmith’s residence. “I am afraid I have not gotten accustomed to this village yet.”
((Oh, yeah. He’ll just ignore that, I guess.))
(is anyone else still inside besides canary and the shop keep?)
(i don’t think so)
(I don’t think so)
(there’s the woman with the child, but no PCs)
“So, we have a low number of suspects. I would think that the correct play would be to ask them pointed questions on site and then try to bring them over to granitehill to do some testing.”
(that’s who I was wondering about, yes.)
I take another breath. And another. I look up. I look at her reaction.
(“her” as in Serian, or as in the woman with the child?)
(former)
“Your footprints matches that of one of the three we found during our own investigation ((and by ‘us’, Arius meant Drakor and Canary)).”
“I find it hard to believe that you had a meeting with the victim that resolved the way you claimed it to be, considering it was the final meeting before his death.”
“Consider believing me then?”
She doesn’t seem upset with you, or with anyone else. She seems concerned, and surprised — it’s bad news if someone is going around murdering people, and worse news if it was someone she knew and had vaguely positive feelings about rather than one of the many strangers in town, and she wouldn’t have guessed it of either of them. But she is running a business here, and she’s trying to stay professional rather than lose her composure in front of customers.
“I am trying, but believe me: It is not an easy task, given the circumstances.”
“Still… Given these new… leads, I suppose we should ask around to see where these new suspects reside?”
Wanderer’s eye slightly twitches. There’s a reason for this, but noticing it, he turns around.
His tone changes entirely to a focused one. “I’m going to go to the militia with this information and have them help me identify what the best course of action is. Tag along if you wish.”
He goes to find someone from the militia.
I pretend to look at the items on the nearest shelf whilst waiting to see if the woman and her child will… leave.
Drakor watched the conversation impassively. Oddly, he remained silent despite his earlier talkativity.
