a fascinating aspect of this game-non-game is that all traditional means of wolfreading are completely useless in the face of the unique circumstances we find ourselves in. we tend to differentiate wolves from villagers by how the pressures of knowledge and agenda alter behaviour. yet that is predicated on the premise of investment.
one can only know their teammates in a game of mafia to the degree that their behaviour is changed if they care. one only attempts to win if victory is meaningful to them. it is for this reason that slanking is such a noxious behaviour, from a metatextual standpoint - itsā presence renders the game of Mafia or Werewolf impossible to play in a meaningful fashion

tuutuu i suppose exists in a state of authenticity by trying to play the game as though the seals and boundaries that define Mafia were presence here. but can authenticity to the act of unplaying the unplayable be truly considered authentic?

You can always derive (or attempt to derive) sincerity. You donāt need to be playing a real game of mafia. You can attempt to guess when someone is lying or feeling uncomfortable outside of mafia. Or the opposite - when they are sincere. Therefore, you can also do it (or attempt to) in this game
