what did you townread from gar either tutuu?
hmm slightly less scared of may
I got pinged
what
I’m assigning everybody’s posts scores and voting based on that
meh
You lost 2 points because your opener was a response to somebody else’s and I don’t have anyhting else to townread you off of. TBH I kinda townread you for being there at SoD but the system makes it difficult to express that. +3 for being htere at SoD and you’re off my votelist

feels too easy
is it a scam?
Yeah but you’re not supposed to know that
Explain both -5 individually.
“I was going to make a joke but the joke doesn’t work” = you spent a significant amount of time thinking about your opener, enough to notice the joke didn’t work, which is vaguely wolfy
Asking about Hippo’s opener and then straight-up vanishing is a super easy contribution to make and the fact that there was zero follow-up gave me a sort of air of inability to/lack of desire to provide your own thoughts, like you were posting just for the sake of posting, you didn’t seem interested in/curious about the answer
Note that -5 is intended to be rather small in the grand scheme of things, initially I set the threshold for town/wolf reads at ±10, but I’m not finding myself with strong opinions on most people yet, and those that I do have decent opinions on (like tutuu and potatocat) are going back and forht a lot
I think individually scoring and keeping track of posts is a waste of itme in the grand scheme of things so I’m gonna stop doing it, but I thought it’d be fun to do the scores for a bit
To be clear here, the scores are intended to be a communication device, not a read-creating device - the way I’m actually judging how towny/wolfy somebody is will be more internal and vibes-based, and a few times I’ve adjusted the scores if I felt they came out in a way that didn’t actually reflect my opinions.
The intended point of the scores is to give people a concrete feeling of the relative magnitude of my saying a post is towny/wolfy (gives me an easy way to make it clear how important a microread is to me), and a way to say “I think this post is fairly neutral but the fact that it’s not actively wolfy puts this person on an upward trend” (which is a +2)
That takes a rather insignificant amount of time.
I’m not sure I believe you think I seemed not interested or curious about the answer with how I worded it.
I might in the future use the numbers in individual reads to communicate “this is an unimportant read” or “this is an important read” but no tracking that’s sooo much effort
ok
Ah well unfortunately I do believe it.
Usually when I’m asking a question of that nature as town, I intend to get something out of the answer, either from the content of it (“oh, I see Hippo said he’d make that post pregame, so it’s not alignment indicative”) or from the way the person answered (“oh, I see you’re calling the post NAI because Hippo said he’d make it pregame, that’s a shallow read and it’s wolfy/that’s a fair observation and it’s towny”) and I’ll, you know, communicate how the question made me feel afterward, because you have to do a certain amount of thinking out loud in forum mafia in order to allow other people to read it.
The way you asked and disappeared is, if you’re town… I’m going to call it “selfish gameplay”? I don’t mean this in a, like, derogatory way, I’m not disparaging your character, it’s just that you’re asking others for information, but not providing any information yourself. You seem to have been following the game to some degree, since you got my ping right away, but you’re not… trying to let other people read you, which is an essential part of, like, playing forum mafia. It allows your individual reads to progress, but it doesn’t let other people’s.
And I associate this kind of gameplay with being a wolf because:
- it’s easier to try to look like you’re solving privately, as you provide fewer opportunities for people to spot inconsistencies in your logic
- because you don’t have to fake any of that concrete-read stuff, you have a lot of flexibility on who to vote for and where to push agenda later, you don’t get stuck having to fake changing your mind if you suddenly need to defend a partner you’ve been distancing from
- even if you flip, you won’t lead toward your partners, there’s not as much potential partnership stuff to look through
- people are generally more nervous as wolves and thus engage less
potatocat called your opener “textbook”, and I’d agree, it’s pretty textbook, and “textbook opener → disappears → shows up again immediately when wolfread” is quite classically wolfy. Obviously, classically wolfy can come from town, but I’ve seen nothing that makes me feel any of that from you, and if you want me not to wolfread you, you’re gonna have to provide me something
It’s not the way you worded the initial question that made you seem incurious, it’s the fact that you didn’t seem to… say anything afterward, you didn’t even stick around to make more reads based on what you got out of the answer.
I should probably just ask you directly: @RetrogradeDusk, what did you think of my answer? What does it make you think about Hippo, what does it make you think about me?
Hi
Oh wow, this is 24hrs day
