The hook is basically, “A kingdom accidentally causes the apocalypse, creating a BBEG in the process and destroying the only weapon that can defeat it. With the BBEG about to destroy the world as they know it, one group is sent to infiltrate the castle and defeat the guy while another group is sent back in time to the days before the apocalypse to find that weapon and prevent its destruction.”
The idea is that past-group is more social-focused and are basically trying to save who they can amidst an inevitable apocalypse, and present-group is more combat-focused and get to reap the rewards/consequences of the actions that past-group has done for them.
