i personally just dont like combat in dnd
im together with my friends to rp, if i wanted to play a board game id go play a board game, or id play xcom if i wanted a turn based tactical game, or if i really really want dnd mechanics in my combat… id go play bg3
dont like combat in ttrpgs* i shuold specify
certified combat hater
the rp is the fun part
describing how your character fights and their personality through their actions in combat is also fun!
but like
that could happen like every 5-6 sessions (or less) and id be happy lol
There’s like a festival thing happening at the cafeteria and all I got out of it was scammed because I bought the same shit as I normally but it arbitrarily cost more and I couldn’t really change my mind because we were right fucking next to a speaker blaring “Party in the USA” which only added to how awkward the situation was.
So now I’m just pissed off.
I think y’all should convince tutuu to run a version of 5e that removes some of the annoying housekeeping things like encumbrance and exhaustion, and give everyone a free feat at level 1 because that’s really fun for theorycrafting, and then “theorycraft” hexadin, coffeelock, quandrix crossbow expert sharpshooter ranger, maybe an arcane trickster + bladesinger if you want a skill monkey and to never fail to find traps or hidden doors or whatever, and then someone can decide to keep it simple and go with a twilight domain cleric (who will somehow be the most broken character of the bunch).
i would die for pombon
which is good, because you shall
what’s a pombon
pomcinabark will become the best pokemon in gen 10 vgc so this is true
I want a game thats like darkest dungeon. But multiplayer and on forum. Players build their character and equipment, maybe theres loot, and advance. Maybe like … An ARPG. Path of Exile forum PvP. I could make my own thing. I just wouldn’t know how to balance it. I could eyeball balance it. Csnt run extensive tests. Could balance it on the go
Ill invite u
I mean you can just adjust as you go and make the players aware of that.
I think combat is really common because it’s the only system of prolonged, collaborative, and structured conflict that’s also action dense. Everyone has a turn. Other sorts of problems don’t make sense to be turned based, or are difficult to design such that everyone has agency in its resolution. Parties typically have a Face so social conflict is just best resolved by letting the person best at it do the talking. Maybe there’s a split between someone good at diplomacy and someone good at deception, but that’s still only 2 players touching the ball at best. Maybe you’re doing a heist and there’s something for everyone to do, but that would almost necessarily be less dense in terms of decisions or checks.
I really like RP too, but I’ve never been in a group that prioritized it, so I may just lack perspective as to what more RP heavy gameplay looks like in the absence of combat.
yo im jaiden
court battle
ttrpg where arguing over the specifics of the rules replaces combat
Intad of jaiden why not try be smart
