from what I can remember first TB i played this happened a lot, not that my social reads were great that game. Many shorter form ones on lgbt+ mafia server. I don’t think I’ve been Good in a botc game outside of lizards for like 4 years

i know it’s not cause of social reads; that’s one of my favourite parts of the game

i think it’s just generally less stressful. i let myself the ability to let go a bit more in the games too, possibly in addition because in mafia i have a winstreak to continue pushing when in botc i don’t (cause if you play a hundred bad homebrews/shortform botc games you’re not gonna win every single one as evil)

I remember it happening a lot of times on discord games too. it’s possible that the homebrew scripts are better on this front but I feel like its worse. I think I just don’t really like mechanics in games at all

I like mechanics insofar as they provide something interesting to talk about and give perspectives on and sometimes you can read people on their responses to / purpoted uses of mechanics, but I do think the purest and or best form of mafia is one that just doesn’t have them

i think mechanics provide good things that wouldn’t be possible without them but ultimately should be Supplementary 
… tihs isn’t to say i don’t like mech-heavy games, obviously i do (virtuous) but that’s mostly because they’re almost always shortform when in their prime, or otherwise as a novelty

i mean I did just have a game where evil almost won despite all of them being dead by day 2
this is the game where we had a winning strat in f5 to execute a minion (since the demon was tied off the block by the evil team) to ensure the imp that we knew was there because of my ft yes but they chucked it
then the imp just didn’t jump. our last tf alive died nominating the demon to witch
I like mechanics to their own end rather than just something to talk about, I think the process of making mechanical decisions and reads is fun
