I did a big collaborative writing project in approximately the Pathfinder setting last year where one of my characters was a cleric of the goddess of vengeance and several of my characters had bad takes and it was interesting to observe that sometimes you’d see the same person both:

  • get mad at the vengeance cleric for saying that she thought some people deserved to suffer in Hell
  • express anger at another of my characters by talking about them going to Hell in a [connotation: positive] sort of way

I mean i suppose “to deserve something means that based on your actions you should have that something as a result”

huh
nice

Pooka and No Dashii seem notably different in that No Dashii poisoned characters don’t literally flip as being poisoned villagers

Hermit and Lunatic is a good combo :hmmyes:

Each player getting a demon token sees at least 2 Lunatics.

That made me laugh hard. Yeah sorry I can’t dedicate anymore time to mafia, I’m growing kids

Someone being a real unlikeable and insufferable piece of shit to the people around them may find themselves socially isolated which will inevitably cause them suffering, but only as a consequence of the people doing the isolating as a reasonable response to the behavior. This isn’t what that person needs nor it’s extremely likely that their suffering may be of a greater magnitude than the suffering they inflicted, but I don’t think forcing the other people to be around someone who causes them suffering is a more moral or ethical alternative. Sometimes suffering is the consequences of your own actions. A lot of times it’s not. Sometimes I wish people would face consequences for their actions of equal magnitude to the harm they suffered, but I wouldn’t say I believe this generally and for all people. I don’t think it’s contradictory to believe that bad people do not intrinsically deserve to suffer, but to also sometimes want specific bad people to suffer, particularly if they were personally aggrieved.

That’s why it was mostly a joke.
