Rapiers can slash
Katanas can stab
You can use the butt of the spear as a staff. Staffs are very effective weapons, even wooden ones

The only bad thing about swords with full hand protection is that their bulky shape makes them inconvenient to carry, and inconvenient to transport. You cant stack them on top of each other like swords that only have a cross guard. And front line soldiers spent most of their time not fighting than fighting, which means utility and convenience was very important
The rapier is very OP because its basically a short metal spear
Weapons are exceptionally lighht
Maces are exceptionally light
Full plate armor is exceptionally light. It restricts mobility because of the chunks of steel not being bendable not because its heavy. You can run and jump and do cart wheels in full plate armor
Axes and maces require strength to land powerful blows. There is very little strength needed in sword fighting. Using bows requires more strength than sword fighting
If a video game were to be realistic, the full plate knight with a sword would be the DEX character, and the lightly armored archer would be the STR character
Nothing new learned regarding the first half since thatâs just stuff regarding the southern expedition; I already know what happened thanks to POV3, POV5, and POV9. What is new, is uh⌠*clicks tongue* there appears to be a body found with a decapitated head. Male, blonde, relatively tall. A possible match to Lucien, who had been MIA since the very end of E6.
The body was also stripped of his clothing, meaning that if it was Lucien, then there might be someone walking in the fort with armor of the provincial guard. âŚon one hand I pray this news wouldnât arrive late to Solomon, but on the other hand I fear this might increase his stress.
Other than that, despite being denied of a pay raise by Mr. Thorn, it appears that members of the high council from the capitol has given all guards a one-time bonus of 30 pieces. (Essentially a weekâs worth of wage at once, I think. Daily wage IIRC is around 6~8 pieces, and meals cost around 3 pieces a day.)
Now I donât know what other guards will think about it, but I am more nervous than ever. On surface level, it seems like a generous boon, but my mindset follows that of Solomonâs; whenever some reward is given, it is often a means to raise morale for the arduous future that comes soon.
Flails are a fictional weapon
unfortunate Iâm a fan of flails
I mean okay usually the full STR melee guy isnt using a light sword in a video game theyâre using a gigantic weapon
I guess using dark souls as an example because its the first thing that comes to mind
Swords like a rapier are pure DEX, but stuff like a longsword actually needs both STR and DEX. If the sword is pure STR, itâs probably a comically oversized greatsword
First 10 minutes after cards up: Woke up w. Stiorra next to her on her bed. Slept while studying books; comparing notes. Had to sneak Stiorra out of the coven building.
âŚoh also, stream mic was muted. (Chat had to go to other charactersâ streams to relay the issue.) The problem was fixed in a jiffy, but now chat would have to watch multiple perspectives to know the details of the conversation. (Though, thatâs probably unnecessary, as context clues were given, and other charactersâ voices were unmuted.)
Actually the best melee weapon(s) is two longswords, one in each hand
so true bestie
âif a video game were to be realisticâ
Skinny people can fight with swords just as well as muscular. You dont rely on your strength to land blows with a sword (irl)
The zweihander is the biggest comically oversized sword that was used irl and it weighs around 4.5 pounds
historically speaking the most important aspects of warfare in terms of the individual are endurance and finesse as opposed to raw strength. above a certain threshold you get vastly diminishing returns
this matches with the macro scale of conflict in which supply lines and sustainability matter far more in terms of any kind of pitched battle than individual tactics or strategy
Yes and archers and especially english longbowmen required a crazy amount of strength to pull the bow
