The thing with don’t judge a book by its cover by how many times I’ve seen it in dhar mann videos, yeah that’s an absolute collapse for me

“Cold as ice” is just a basic simile it doesn’t belong in this midst even ignoring how it lacks any cohesive semblance as a mish-mash of quotes, symbols and messages.

what is the graphic design also like I mean I kind of get it in the sense of “metaphors that are cliche don’t really serve the purpose of metaphors as well” but like also these can be used well in situations

These are like nearly all just common similies

Each Dhar Mann video I’ve seen sorta shares the message that “you shouldn’t bully people because they might actually be especially talented in every field and be universally beloved” which seems like a harmful depiction of unreality, but that might just be me.

Telling people “never say these phrases” doesn’t make them have original thought in place of the phrases. Itjust makes them delete the phrases

i used to be interesting in writing. i remember reading a nice e-book about it. well it was for like storytelling. theorycrafting. on a macro scale. not on a micro scale. i dunno anything about the micro stuff. but on a macro scale it taught a lot about importance of conflict. there needs to be conflict, or there’s no story. gosh what was the name. it was a good book imo. i wanted to give you more advice and im trying to google it but i cant find it

basically it talked about how a lot of beginner writers, when they write they focus on the plot, and they end up creating movie scripts. their works would fit as like movie scripts, but not like books or like written media. she claimed it was integral for there be an emotional backbone that glues together the writing. the put the focus on building up some emotional conflict first, focusing on it, and then building everything around it, rather than using anything else as the skeleton

she claimed that stories get people immersed because they wanna see how the conflict is resolved. they get glued in coz its their insticnts kicking it, like they’re trying to learn from it. she claimed it was ingrained in human brain to be drawn in stories, like cave people sitting around a fire listening to stories of the hunters. coz it might save their life. so like, yeah, that was the gist of it, focus on conflict, conflict resolution and emotional journey for the characters first and foremost

They kind of have regurgitated poorly cliche videos without much narrative thought or inspiration. Oh also the writters are threatened and in poor conditions. Stuff to consider.

It’s not made to be considerate, it’s made for clicks

oh i see hahah i thought creative

They’re only similes if they have an adjourning comparison word. "Driving me crazy” isn’t an analogy.

Okay well now you amended your clause to exempt any incorrect conditions!

The thing with don’t judge a book by its cover it’s okay by itself. But it’s terribly shallow in their videos. Wow don’t judge the man who is dressed casually in the car sale garage because he’s ACTUALLY here to buy (not to beg) a car sooo inspiring

If you ever feel like you’re a terrible writer, just think about the worst movie you’ve seen and know someone got paid to write that.

most amateur writers end up writing self-inserts and/or movie scripts (when they’re attempting to write like literature)
