Summary
So The Guy (who if u dont get it is on jury duty but the trial and other jurors are fake and actors), is helping this character out who got in a fight with his girlfriend over phone. And the actor asks The Guy to vouch for him on the phone to his GF. And the whole bit is that the actorâs âGirlfriendâ tells The Guy over phone to tell the actor that theyâre breaking up. So she does this.
But then The Guy just⌠doesnât tell him. The actor keeps asking, in a leading what, what his GF said, but The Guy just says she was mad and he should try and talk to her later once things have cooled off. But the actor knows that the GF told The Guy that she wanted to break it off. And he needs his character to know that information, because heâs scripted to sleep with another juror later on. But The Guy, being a nice guy, doesnât want to tell this man that his GF broke up with him while he is sequestered and cant do anything about it. But the actor has to push it, because itâs in the script. And it just kinda throws off the whole vibes. Instead of it being this sad but nice moment where The Guy is just trying to be nice, it becomes this unnatural interrogation. And I wish they didnât stick so hard to their scripted points.
All in all this show would be a lot better if
- The show tried less comedic moments (A lot of like "the witness gets called out for doing something weird) and made most of the comedy come from the cast of jurors themselves being off-kilter. I think it shouldâve just had a kinda boring and unfunny trial.
- The show was way more improvised. Tons of stuff felt unnatural because they needed The Guy to communicate some sort of info to someone else to start a chain reaction, but then he didnât because itâd be weird or rude to, and then the vibes are off. The best moment by FAR in the show is when an actor asks The Guy how to get off of jury duty, and The Guy jokes that he saw peter on family guy get out of jury duty by being racist. So then that same actor later during vior dire, claims to be racist, and looks at The Guy while doing that. And that was an idea for a scripted part that got cut, but it was added in because the moment was right and it was natural. and it was REALLY funny.
- The characters were a little more grounded. I thought the best characters were the mostly side characters who just seemed like real people with funny idiosyncracies and personality flaws, and the real wackballs fell flat at points.
Although honestly you just get to the endpoint where the truman reveal happens and everything is kinda sad regardless so idk
