ok so basically the whole point of poker is to either be the last player standing in a round or have the best hand

you make your hand with 2 cards that are private and only you can use to make hands (“hole cards”)

and theres 5 “community” cards that any person can make hands with

each round opens with blinds put forward and people can call the Big Blind to see the flop. This goes around the table until everyone has either matched the largest bet (people can raise) or folded (which is removing yourself from the rest of the hand)

Then 3 community cards are dealt (called the “flop”)

then another round of betting but this time people can “check” which is to just make no bet and if everybody checks nobody has to bet and the round of betting ends. but if one person bets everyone has to match or fold

then the 4th community card is dealt (called the “turn”)

then another round of betting

then the 5th community card is dealt (called the “River”) before a final round of betting

If 2+ people are still in it after that they reveal their cards and whoever has the better hand wins

i never did I always play on gut because if you involve math in gambling you are a fuckin weenie
