Whether hosts decide manually or random is up to them. The point is: Mafia get nerfed by having their agency removed, so they’re forced to focus completely on social deception.

If this unfair setup is still won by Mafia, then there’s probably no hope left for Town.

if it’s an open setup where the mafia knows 100% itll win them the game (which i think we were operating under the assumption of) then i wouldn’t punish them
but in a situation with dubious knowledge i can see it killing them anyways

okay and this is good for the game how, exactly

seems like it’d be hellish to play as mafia in such a setup

i feel like completely removing nka as a factor and giving mafia a free answer to the question “why are you alive” might not move the needle towards town as far as you think

Nah. BotC Demon chooses the kills. They have agency. As for the thingy with the “fight against host” everyone is Town while host chooses kills. It’s not the same; the setup I envision doesn’t have ambiguity of whether to fight the host or not, and it does have Evil.

well there are some demons where the host chooses the kills

it could work in a specific kind of setup (like how botc has lil’ monsta things like that)

but Like. not in a 9v2 mountanious

Good for the game? Whose game?

This setup is a test to see if Town is even able to improve overall townplay to begin with. If Town fails, then it shall become a stain in Town’s overall worth (at least, FMPOV).

It is hellish to play as Mafia. That’s the intention. It’s playing on hard mode for them, and easy mode for Town.

zone you are looking significantly too closely at balance here

botc can have host-decides kills on occassion because kills don’t silence anyways
in a mafia game, the mafia’s central tool is their ability to silence the most dangerous town voices
without that, you just end up with something closer to Marson than anything, which was intentionally designed to be hellish to play despite being theoretically balanced

(also every host decided kill demon has a major upside to make up for it so)

Oh lord… Wait, no. That’s only if the hosts publically stated they kill randomly. The ambiguity of how hosts kill Town should be kept hidden. That way, if hosts kill Town because of a biased reason (e.g., Towns whose reads are most incorrect), people can still speculate as to why deepwolves aren’t killed.

not really

how to improve townplay: force the wolves to kill themselves
