My brother’s scarily good at Minecraft politics.
He wants an area that gives him access to two ocean monuments, but it’s currently disputed territory between two other server members.
So he invited a new guy to the server and gave them a portion of his northern territory as a gift. Said territory borders the territory of one of the guys in the dispute, who he knows would be intimidated by this and would thus build up his fortifications.
The other person in the dispute then saw this as preparations for war and started building up his own fortifications against that, triggering an arms race, redirecting broader server attention to the northern territories, and giving him clear reign to annex the disputed territory.
Genuinely insane stuff.
