OK wolves did kill soweli but only because of a different targeting restriction lol
another haha funny but useless ability from the mafia powerwolf is âif a wolf fakes a green on another wolf and iiâs earnestly believed, that wolf can night angel their greencheck.â and like. i get it. funny. flavorful. low on the power budget. did indirectly encourage neil to fake a green. but also âplayers with earnestly believed greenchecks on themâ tend to be low on the priority list for vigs
the restrictions exist for reasons
tbf spam/slank vigs arenât cases where I disagree entirely but like. wolf spamvig is
- less boring than a normal vig which the team probably already has
- functionally the same a vast majority of the time
- sometimes actually forces wolves to make a slightly weird kill
- kills you n1
you could argue itâs maybe more useful for anni in particular because the vig could just not see the fake green
Anyway my point is that any restriction (even if it is a weaker one) that forces the wolves to make slightly suboptimal N1 kills will to some degree hinder them from chewing through their favorite SPKs super fast
wolf spamvig is stupid town spamvig is heroshotter9000 or just ends up shooting a relatively null spammy person which. like. you can also shoot a relatively null person with a Regular Vig. or do as what happened in fam5 and make all the valid targets for it not shootable
its stupid
i do think wolves had some vigs with some mildly fun restrictions
i do think itâs really funny that we managed to back up the nya vig without incident and the backup only died for being independently wolfy
Spamvigs arenât even my favorite but I think theyâre acceptable.
I actually used to dislike them like you do but Iâve come around
this is slander heroshotter9000 was good in the one game i really read my idea is heroshooting
well iâm sorry youâve decided being right was too much effort and went back to being wrong
the pollvig was i think fun but also died on d2 and is fundamentally unbackupable by the nature of the beast
i do agree that town spamvigs are a bad role if your intent is to give a villager anything resembling âreliableâ kp
i also think it depends on numbers or, preferably, percentages
thereâs also the argument that giving roles unreliable KP is a way to give roles KP without giving them reliable KP
incredible sentence im not elaborating
Fundamentally:
I think players should put consideration into how many posts they make, itâs courteous to make yourself readable to others.
You can have a really annoying degenerate (in the game theoretical sense) strategy where you just spampost every game regardless of your alignment and itâs hard for anybody to get you executed because you out-thread-stalk all of them, can be really pushy every time someone cases you, and youâre so annoying to backread to case thoroughly in the first place.
This is generally not a great strategy in normal games, because if youâre too obnoxious and hard to read people just vote you out, but it gains some effectiveness in mashes where not everybody is reading all the content anyway.
Therefore, in mashes, things that punish these people are good (like things that make them easier to kill â spamvig doesnât punish with guaranteed death but just with making it easier to decide to kill you anyway) are good, because it adds disadvantages to this anti-social strategy.
Town spamvig is kinda silly.
tbc I think over/under X number is Literally Usable but like. top/bottom X% or top/bottom X posters is waaaaaaaay better imo if you want this role to have less miserable lowrolls
people donât vig hard to read targets usually they vig confident scumreads/strong town players and the spamvig restriction isnât an accurate filter for that
Postcaps are better but theyâre really annoying to enforce on FoL because we donât have built-in software for them. Spamvigs disincentivize in the strongest way (and anything weaker would work way worse tbh) and only require checks at the end of the night rather than continuous GM attention
People who make a lot of posts are often considered strong town players and are really hard to misexecute, thatâs part of what makes them annoying to play with
i think more like 60% of the people who spam are strong players (in a mash)
And I think itâs good to have incentive to kill spammers (even if youâre only killing the strong players within those spammers)
