oh yeah that
it would probably have been fine if it was n2+ gated but also akane died to town on town violence that one wasn’t even us
oh yeah that
it would probably have been fine if it was n2+ gated but also akane died to town on town violence that one wasn’t even us
it disrupted more than just her, but yeah
N2+ would be More Acceptable but it’s just an ability archetype i despise 99% of the time and even after nerfing it multiple times i don’t know why i didn’t just say “delete it this role is already strong asf as is”
(well I definitely said it idk why I didn’t just Do It)
for those reading along this is the ability in question

I heard about that indirectly but imagined something much more daring and funny
Not to imply the daring and funny ability woild’ve been Good
it was probably more daring and funny before i forced it to be nerfed multiple times
I was just jealous of the boldness
i think the original version of that entire role (it has 4 abilities and 3 of them were nerfed p hard before the game started) would make you quite jealous
would the original roleblock from hell have ever stopped

going off of memory, but originally:
first ability did not have an announcement and never gave players the proper feedback
second ability didnt have the backup clause
third ability was unchanged afaik
fourth ability was usable every other night and did not only block ONE random player. there is a wolf role that can visit like 7 people night 1 btw
im realizing this has 3 night abilities and all 3 are written differently
If you ran this I would have been extremely jealous and also would have shit talked you to hell and back
i would be unsurprised if host chat had a four digit amount of messages from me complaining about this role (it probably doesnt only because i wallposted about it a few times iirc)
which is to say: yeah
hosts at least had the good sense to not let us factionalize the flood even though that technically wouldn’t have violated its no backup clause
id have fucking screamed
that role made me scream but i also did technically fight against nerfing it like the day of rand
which probably means that role just made me insane
factionalizer is like. ok on n1 and n2 we were just incorrect about which wolves were in danger and thus didn’t get any value out of it. on n3 we factionalized the poisoner and got an extra n4 set of poisons out of it. and n4 we factionalized the neil the eel role as a contingency plan so we could still strongwill the flood, a contingency plan we didn’t end up needing when hyena survived the day anyway
Tyranny is the only appropriate response to mash design teams
(IMO it’s a lot easier to fuck up by including a weird role over not including one, and it’s good to fight against stuff that gives you a strong bad vibe until and unless other people can genuinely convince you it’s a. Fine and b. Actively a good and fun thing to have in-game)
When I was suggesting some bullshit the thing that took me out of it was taking a step back and going What’s the reward if this succeeds? Not much there’s other good roles. What’s the punishment if it fails? Uhhh bad
I think I took too few risks but that it was the right side to err on
