And the risks I did feel comfortable taking were because I knew other people would hit me if I pulled some bullshit
i mean i do unironically believe anni26 suffered from a lack of tyranny
maybe tyranny is the wrong term but like. maybe this is just me assigning blame to myself for no reason but i felt like i was vaguely viewed as like the âleaderâ of the design but i never really consciously processed that until maybe a few days before rand, and i think every other mash ive helped with (at least every Big Mash) i was Not that so i was pretty aimless a lot of the time and in turn i think we were aimless at times
by the time i kinda picked up on this it was both Pretty Close To Rand and also like. i was burning out.
i dunno how accurate most of this is since ive never said any of it let alone to anyone else who was there at the time lol
Project management is the word that people use when theyâre mot being cringe I think
yeah but its more fun to say we needed a tyrant
FAM5 suffered from bad project management. FAM6 suffered from mediocre project management because Iâm not good at it but I knew thata nd conceptualized of myself as the leader and shouldered my own burdens so ir was a lot easier despite me arguably doing a higher proportion of the work
I think when it comes to mashes that canât plausibly be made by one person the main design skill is ability to trust your cohosts, and also ability to take criticism well (both listening to good criticism and not listening to bad criticism)
anyway i was backreading more anni discourse
fwiw i can assure you the fun side of it was considered
it was a pretty contentious role and, if i were a tyrant, it probably wouldnât have existed in the first place?
ive admittedly kinda skimmed past a lot of the actual postgaming since the latter half of anni was a Very Bad Time For Me and i didnt really want to⌠go from that to people complaining about it. which is to say im not speaking for any of the other hosts but i think every complaint about it being UNFUN is completely valid and like. yeah. i was very aware it was an insanely high variance role and that the highrolls would probably be unfun.
i do think itâs kinda hard to not be a bit defensive about it from the wolf side, at least in the immediate postgame and also some of the posts i did see did not seem very⌠constructive about it.
Yeah I got no clue what people were posting bc I didnât spectate but I donât think itâs necessarily an Unbalanced role or causes an Undeserved wolf win, and that complains to that effect are silly, if it didnât have that much KP itâd be spread over the rest of the team lmao
surprisingly painless thus far
I still need to reinstall like all my programs but literally none of my files seem to be harmed and I even was able to reload my last firefox session exactly after reinstalling the browser
didnt even need to log in here again lel it all transferred over perfectly
w
(And sorry if I was too harsh I did not know you and Lissa were hosting anni because I donnot pay attention)
(And lbr I am May and if someone were criticising FAM because they thought I wasnât around to see it Iâd count myself lucky and immediately open and start reading)
Basically you arenât allowed to complain about balancing in any meaningful way without getting backlash for being rude to the hosts or not appreciating the work they put in or something along those lines. There arenât rules about this and different people and receptive by differing amounts to feedback but most popular games and mashes are hosted by the same small-ish group of people on a rotation

Idk what happened in the post game of the last mash cuz I didnât read it but Iâm just assuming based on what Marissa said that itâs more or less the problem Iâve described here
The worst one I remember was when Creature complained about the paradigm of mash balancing in general after an alexa/anne game which was a fair point in my opinion, like if wolves are winning every mash (which they were at the time) then you canât just say âtown should just play betterâ, like the balancing should account for that - and he got shit on by everyone because of his other point which was complaining about balance points of that game specifically (which I do disagree with, I just think he had a point about how if wolves are winning every mash then the balance should be adjusted for that)
i think youâre like⌠half right
in the sense that like. i do think in general people take criticism as an ATTACK too often? but on the flipside i think thatâs kind of a justified defense mechanism because a vast majority of criticism is woefully unconstructive and like 2 seconds after the end of a game (or in dvc midgame) and its like. wow okay i dont want to deal with that.
the immediate criticism is kind of a double edged sword since i think itâs also just a matter of fact that a lot of the things people will criticize are things the host in question is probably already being hard on themselves about⌠which probably doesnât help, yknow?
obv this is a me thing and i do doubt most ppl care about it as much as i do but after games i host i do typically read most of it and try to extrapolate the actually good parts out of even bad posts, and i do actually agree that creature in particular is a good example of both sides of the argument. like⌠i do genuinely recall reading some creature postgames and like, if you weed out some of the garbage he does have some actually good points just⌠presented in a way that heâs poisoned his own well. tbh creature in particular might have been a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy insofar that his own rep poisoned his own well hes far from the only example i can think of
idt any of the posts ive read here have been too harsh, at the least nothing competes with how harsh i am to myself
i do actually enjoy talking bout these kinda things anyway. mafia theory is more fun than playing or hosting mafia
it took you quoting the ash post to process that you two have different PFPs and are thus different people
i was confused why you were misgendering yourself
itâs ashâs fault
iâm considering changing mine but itâs been a while since i was Red
strongmans wouldnt have bypassed that protection, no
it was partially like. in play for exactly the problem youâre all describing in this convo. which naturally means a wolf gets it but. we tried!
I think itâs on some level an obligation of the hosts/players to not conflate salt with criticism and to shut things down in a more âthis is not constructive right now, take a walk and come backâ than âdonât criticise the hosts they worked so hardâ sort of way, and to understand that some players are silly and mostly just need to just be ignored out in the yard rather than being yelled at for letting salt cloud their vision. But I didnât read anything youâre talking about so Iâm entirely unqualified to talk
is it that hard to pretend to be even more useless or have you hit rock bottom
good post however i dont like you and worked very hard on this reply
