im not saying ignore it 
im saying like, studying openings takes time and effort, at that level i think spending that effort on understanding the game better in more general ways (pawn advantages, tactics, effective attacks) is going to help you more, especially because those are applicable towards openings as well
and im like, speaking from experience here, i played chess for a while and never studied openings and was fairly good at it

I know, like, three openings, and this has been enough to get me decently far.
Are u guys playing on chess dot com or lichess? Lichess elo ratings are inflated by 200-500 points for beginner and intermediate players compared to chess
This is my USCF rating, so it’s my official one.
My chess.com rating is 1500 for some reason.

When you create an account you choose a skill level and that translates to a default rating:
- New to chess: 400
- Beginner: 800
- Intermediate: 1200
- Advanced: 1600
