AC update: second company gave a more or less identical diagnosis. The thermal expansion valve is shot and its failure has almost certainly compromised other parts, itās best to replace it. The bright side is the guy said he could likely replace it for $9-11k, and said weād have an exact estimate on Monday. Downside is theyāre so slammed he has no idea when he could actually come install it.
When we told him his quote was lower than the last company (without saying the estimate or company), he said:
āYeah, a lot of companies around here operate on commission, and jack up the price. They come out for free, but rarely leave without calling someone else to get out there to give an estimate. [Name of the first company] for example is like this. Theyād probably quote you between 15 and 18 thousand.ā
The weirder thing is the refrigerant line was overcharged, and he made it pretty clear it was not going to run like that. Itās why the pressure was so absurdly high in the line. We didnāt see the first guy charge it with refrigerant, but he said itās really unlikely that he didnāt because the numbers donāt make sense otherwise. It could be inexperience on the techās part or it could have been deliberate to be able to show us a scary number. However, the first guy also was like āyour thermal expansion valve is shot and that probably damaged the rest of the unit, and itās really not worth taking it apart to find outā and the second guy agreed so who knows. Like the second guy hinted at potential chicanery, but literally the outcomes were identical. The AC canāt run and needs to be replaced, and for the exact same reasons. So who knows.

Did yāall know trains can be delayed by how hot it is outside? I didnāt! Our train left like 2 hours late from NYC and has been delayed another 30 minutes in getting to our station because they have to limit their speed or something due to the heat. Something has to go right soon. Iām so due

i spent the entire game sorta softing artist but not in a way i expected the mutant (the gt in the et pair) to be forced to push, which iām a little proud of because i donāt believe that that mutant wouldāve been able to handle having to push worlds where iām evil/lying for no reason
