see, originally grass on your lawn is used as a status of wealth, since you go “i can afford to keep all this grass alive”
but now that it’s manufactured, that goes away. yet, people still follow the trend. isn’t that interesting?

well and the cost/time investment for keeping grass alive went way down so even if it’s not, they can
i just find it interesting that they designed this thing solely as a display of wealth and it stuck

I think it was more a statement of how much of your land you could afford to not work. It is land that isn’t used for structures, crops, or livestock. “Look how much I can waste.” And that is still true of manufactured grass in a sense because it still an equal waste of space even if it’s not a waste of resources.

Lawns came from european nobility. Everyone used all of their ground to grow food, including nobility. Then some ultra rich nobles starting keeping lawns and wasting the space entirely as a flex to show off how rich they are. This was imported to US nobility, they copied them. Then the middle class citizens starting imitating them, coz they also wanna be like the nobility. So nowadays its super common in the US, less common in europe
Keeping grass alive is nothing really, its the flex that you can waste the land. Which is why lawns are complely idiotic imo

I had watched a video that said that the earth’s maximum population will cap at 11 million. I dont remember the justifications but it made sense to me when i watched it. We’re slowly getting there
