And it’s also worse because said lunch is only 30 minutes long in the first place, so by the time I had gotten out of the line with nothing but a hot dog bun, a packet of ketchup, and a carton of regular-ass milk to show for it, none of the like concession stand things scattered around the first floor were even open.

Or before they are able to perform their mentoring duties.

If you kill the leader, its soldiers might run like headless chickens not knowing what to do

well if their teachings are just starting, the hero will have to build them all on their own, thus nullifying the mentorship at all
but a lot of the time the mentor will die after enough training, giving the hero both unshakable motivations AND training
