I think the key difference between Sayaka and Homura, at least in this context, is like…

Sayaka tries sometimes to be that silent hero who does things for no thanks and doesn’t announce anything. But she can’t do this. She needs motivation and she needs people to be grateful and if she feels unappreciated she’ll cry. And she doesn’t want to be that way but she is

Homura obviously can’t keep going forever with no thanks, but like, she is 99.9th percentile 14 year olds for doing this. She’s like a cat going into a hidden place to die, you know
