Overheard a group of kids talking about how their model of the GPU chip supply chain successfully predicted Nvidia beating earnings, and now I feel a need to build actually useful things.

I would be more skeptical of overhearing this sort of thing. There are billions if not trillions of dollars spent trying to consistently do this sort of thing because being good makes you a lot of money. Jane Street would not be spending $3 billion to net $7 billion if a college student could build an accurately predicative model in their dorm room. I’m not saying it’s impossible for a random student at your school to make a model that’s truly accurate and not one that just got lucky (or the conditions made it ~trivial to predict), but that you should be skeptical and not cut yourself down over someone yapping about a thing they’re likely in the Dunning-Kruger valley for. Build something if it’s what you want to do, but not to compete with an imagined best possible version of a thing someone else mentioned.

I’m aware, I’m aware. I think I’m more just bothered that I’ve never really tried to do anything like that while still pursuing a career pathway that’s all about this.
Not upset by “I could’ve made money on this” as much as “I really should be doing this kind of thing”.

Like, I know this kind of stuff is hard - I’ve been modeling things since I tried to predict Bollywood film grosses back in 2nd grade - but I’ve also never really tried to do something market-related in spite of my background, so hearing other people do it and do it successfully is more just a reevaluation of myself and my priorities than anything else.

List of POVs and Episodes

E9, Vinitrine’s father was a physician in New Gallion, who had a clinic on the outskirts of the town. His name was Dr. Morwin. He had published a book on making medicines with cheaper and more viable ingredients. Once Vinitrine’s mother passed away, her father cared no longer for his family. She still wrote letters to him.

E10, Edward, stitch, open wound, sparring. Vagabonds no teach anymore if skip, participation forced. Jocelyn wished leave coven to become Dr. Robin’s apprentice.

E11, I’m still (mildly) uncomfortable with Dr. Finley guilt-tripping Ambrose, even if it’s acting. […] Cassandra reinforced hospital windows. Spilled papers and ink. (('Cuz they can’t move the background props, lol.)) Then Vin said she burnt a book with blue cover ('cuz she was told to do so?). Doctors went mad, in particular Dr. Finley, as he attempted to run through an unboarded window. (LMAO :joy_cookie:)

Not in the slightest.
In hindsight, Bollywood was going through a phase where they’d keep making expensive stuff with giant actors that would have wildly successful opening days/weekends before falling off hard (Besharam, Happy New Year, etc), so I will blame that trend messing with my results instead of, “I didn’t know how to create models with more than one field on the x-axis.”

My dad is also autistic i think. And he also masks it. Hes not like heavily on the spectrum. Hes lightly. Im lightly too. My mom isnt. And my BPD i got from my grandfather. My dad’s dad. And my sensitivity and emotional intelligence i got from my mom. My whole personality was pre-determined from my genes, i think. Which isn’t unexpected, i think
