Had an asinine game, one of the players just started randomly attacking his neighbor (which usually outs being lawful). This lead to the second law player concluding that the first player had to be outlaw by PoE because he had a neutral turn where he did nothing. The sheriff agreed and jailed him, but the player wrote “?” in chat. Using my mafia skills i immediately figured out the jailed player was law, so it turns out the very first player was outlaw and just decided to randomly attack his neighbor, who was also outlaw (which is why u shouldnt do this). I was the third outlaw and I killed him and drew 3 cards for it, but we still won, because law killed their own law too. His play was so bad that it ended up working out. Also my teammate had Suzu who drew like 20 cards, so OP

Well, compared to FM, bang is unique the way that the revealed flagbearer is on the “good” guys’ team. (also everyone is uninformed, not just the town) So dieing as “mafia” (bandit) isn’t detrimental as much as in an FM game. (also killing your teammates gives you 3 cards, so the outcome of “random” shooting is always better for bandits, than deputies or the renegade. You either eliminate one of your opponent, or you gain precious resources, while lawfuls have the risk of eliminating their own teammates.)

And if you have bad luck wtih the draws, you have to shoot your neighbors anyway (mostly to get closer to the sheriff), so it isn’t really that much alligment indicative.

A lot of things depend on your (also your opponent’s) character(s) and your cards you draw, so the game is way more nuanced, than that anyone shooting their neighbor has to be good or bad.

Also if I remember correctly, the sheriff even gets penalized, if he kills a deputy on patrol…

Unrelated note.
It looks like, I still have my boardgamearene account, from 7 years ago… (I changed devices multiple times, so remembering the password, or knowing which e-mail I used at the time is a small miracle)

Out of nowhere, I feel like I should apologize to Litten and some folks back at my homesite. In the past I may have had a rough attitude (and I might still have that –and I’m sorry for that as well), but at least my memory was still functioning well. I feel sad that I can’t seem to be plotting and/or seeing a couple steps in the future anymore.

…alternatively, my present memory may have gone so bad, to the point where I am imagining false memories and assuming they are true. If that’s the case, then I hope whoever reads this post has a good laugh out of it.
