as someone who has never used a dishwasher and handwashed everything and can but won’t handwash clothing
by technicality you don’t really need that much water to handwash just pretend it’s fifty years ago where people would get out a large pot-sized container of water and use that then rinse lightly afterwards

Yeah im not really sure about the claim that dishwasher uses less water. Pans require a fuck ton of water but dishes and utensils you just rinse them once, wash with dish soap, rinse again. You dont need to keep the water tap constantly running, at least i dont. I have fun micro managing it
i hate using soap and still my plates come out squeaky clean so
pots are very easy to clean just soak them in water for like 10 minutes and come back

pots are also not non-stick so like yes i still wash them pure water only
they come back with no complaints so 
I dont cook with pots but our pan is not non-stick and is such a pain to wash especially after my mom cooks i dont think she uses enough oil and there is just egg stuck everywhere 
And i need to wash 5 times and scrub it hard. Soaking doesn’t get rid of it
maybe a bit more oil would help

In studies, a conservative estimate places it at 20 gallons of water per 10 minutes of handwashing vs 5 gallons of water per load of the dishwasher. It can be as load as 3 gallons of water depending on the model of dishwasher, and much higher while handwashing depending on a number of factors. This likely assumes that the water is running the whole time, but if you turn it on and off between dishes, I would be surprised if you could get it below 5 gallons. It’s also less sanitary as May pointed out because the water isn’t as hot in the sink nor is it as intense.

I remember recently you claimed that hot water isnt more sanitary for washing hands, and cold water is just as effective, but its recommended to use warm water because it makes people wash their hands for longer. If hotness of water isnt more effective for hands, why is it more effective for dishes?

It does also help if like, after ur done eating, u immediately put ur dish in the sink and put a little water on it to let it soak immediately. So food and oil and stuff never gets the chance to harden. And then it wipes off super easily
