i forgot i’m gonna have to keep them in for over a month which means i’ll see my family with them
many such cases. can’t go worse than when you explained tutuu to them
I’ve watched so much gen 9 Wolfey content.and barely any other competitive Pokemon content (literally no singles stuff at all). So I’m “mega evolutions look really cool and that’s all they have going for them” pilled now.
unfortunately we’re bkc pilled reverendmaxxing big yellow enjoyers
i have beef with wolfey. he misrepresented the pokemon v lions debate using the hoard battle strawman
I don’t deny that megas are far less flexible for VGC format, but in terms of actually playing the video game they’re deffo the best gimmick mechanic thus far
tera also has far less utility in singles than doubles so it’s arguably also maybe the best singles gimmick mechanic
“give up item slot on a mon to turn it into a stronger mon” is a reasonable trade-off and you aren’t really forced to use a mega at all
admittedly some of this is down to the fact that singles formats are better regulated
so like, OP stuff actually gets banned out to a higher tier, rather than just forcing everybody to take it
which is the big problem with megas in VGC - you basically need to run one of the, like, 4 or 5 top tier ones or else you’re throwing
in OU the overpowered ones just… are banned… so you aren’t forced to use one in the same way
What if we blocked out just 50% of the sun. I don’t think anything bad
highkey the way that VGC handles restricted/uber-tier mons in general is a large part of why I have very little desire to engage with the format
the only times ive ever even dipped my toes in are when the current format bans all restricted mons
Wordle 1,460 4/6
never really found the idea of “everything is legal but you can only bring one (or two, depending on ruleset) of the broken ones” to be nearly as engaging as the OU approach of “all of the broken ones are banned”

and honestly even stuff like VGC Regulation H, which bans all the legendaries, doesn’t really end up being a good set of play patterns
because the stuff that is absurdly strong but not technically a legendary (looking at you, archaludon and sneasler) just get used on a majority of the top teams and it ends up being a less diverse format as a result
usage-based tiering like smogon has prevents that from being an issue because the archaludon/sneasler equivalents who become effectively mandatory to either have or counter end up getting banned out of the tier anyways
We need a Mega Garchomp buff.
I propose the 40 points that went into Special Attack should go into speed to make it 132 Speed.
okay see you’ve successfully just gone from mega garchomp being worse than garchomp to mega garchomp being banned from the tier

I should probably stop playing sequence. The beginning is stressful.
I think it still offers an interesting team building challenge in most regulations. Sneasler is an example of when it’s not great because of how strong it was relative to the field. Diversity is good, but I would be curious how much more diverse the other formats are if you control for mons that are effectively interchangeable, and/or view it by team strategy archetype.

I HATE WORDLE
sneasler was also too good for the field in OU. so it got banned
