Solo Leveling just sounds like hell to live through.
Like, at some point, your entire sense of self-worth is gamified into numbers that you level up by doing a bunch of exercises. You strip any sense that what you’ve done is the result of your own actions and experience.
You want to get good at DMing a game of DnD? Congrats! You’re now just good at it because you ran for a week straight!

Was telling a friend about my idea for a Promised Neverland fanfic rewrite as a test run before I started actually writing it out, and he told me to stop halfway through because it got too dark.
So that got scrapped.

Solo leveling isn’t the only one who using the stats = numbers system. It’s just the most famous one, I think.
Honestly, nowadays more manhwas uses it, than not, and a lot of japanese LN won’t avoid this system either. (Motly isekai on the light novel front. Especially, when the MC becomes a mage/mage-like.)

This is fair, but I’m beefing with Solo Leveling in particular because of this one scene where the guy goes, “I’m reaching my limit,” and then they pull out an Exhaustion meter that’s climbed to 65%.
Like, complete “we must associate number to everything” mentality.
