At least I have the confidence, my dear sister. Youāll just cry in the corner when your little thing you call ābullyingā doesnāt quite work out for you.
The wind could just take you and youād fold like aaaaa
Ok congratulations everybody but I started looking at v3 defenses again for research purposes and Iām baffled at how kokichi secretly being a good guy (in the sense that his goal is to help everybody) is not just a take people have but one that people say is the definitive correct one?
IIRC
Kokichi said that they always tried to solve the trials through mischief ( and also ānobody should be forced to play a game, they donāt wantā), if youād explore his room, youād also find so many many many collectibles as heās trying to do research on the place, so he definitely puts his weight in, I would think. Itās just his methods are really unorthodox, Iām not sure if itās from genuine malice or trying to trick the game, I feel itās both, but to the point it blurs the line.
according to the text of the game yes
I think a reading where he just wants to beat the mastermind makes more sense than him trying to help everyone though
Vivian loves you all and good night
good night vivian1!!!
Good night. Make me a sandwich for breakfast tomorrow
To be fair I do think ālying is goodā is a message Iām never willing to get behind and that heās irredeemably rude to everybody (Kaede in the death road to despair, outing Maki, manipulating Gonta, trying to make Kirumi do chores for him, how he treats Miu, etc.) to the point that I canāt think heās in good faith trying to help everybody & is instead acting self-interestedly, i.e. gathering everyoneās motive videos (he does allege that his goal is to share them with everybody but that never happens so heās gaining an information imbalance), and most blatantly in case 5 heās more trying to win one over on the game-master than trying to get everyone out alive I think. I generally donāt see how his actions are necessary to helping everybody (especially in case 4 when things are like very avoidable by his actions
Itās overtly stated that Kokichi does want to stop the game but that his efforts are hindered by his inability both to trust the people around him (he actively manipulates all his co-conspirators) or to realize that the gameās creators have little regard for the rules (his 3-5 plan, as Benguinedās noted before, would have just gotten the entire group killed, and even 3-6 doesnāt terribly faze them). As such, he feels that he must end the game, no matter the cost, and to this end, he adopts an antagonistic persona to better align with Monokuma.
The facade falls when he breaks down to Kaito right before he dies, and itās confirmed when Shuichi finds that Kokichiās idea of being a Cult Leader is childish: his gang is just a bunch of pranksters, and his Ultimate Lab is basically a playroom.
He is a kid who thinks that the burden of saving everyone lies on his shoulders, so he actively plays to manufacture a situation where he can manipulate everyone into a giant plan. 3-4 is a great example of this messiah complex at play: he sees himself as being so valuable and his plan so important that heās willing to force Gonta to kill Maki to save his own skin.
