i will lightly defend 2 parts of the imperial system which is length and temperature. i think that the divisibility of a mile or a foot matters much less to us, but i feel like it was probably relevant decades or centuries ago to architects and laborers during construction or city planners when figuring out how to divide square miles into lots.

I’m probably way more dismissive of imperial defences (even light ones) because I’m a chemistry student and every time even one measurement in one place is imperial I want to blow up the entire lab
