one day I will obtain an intuitive idea of what uniform continuity entails

For a function defined on a bounded and open interval, Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s equivalent to being able to define a value of the function on the endpoints of the interval such that the function remains continouous

And combining this with the fact that a continuous function on a closed interval is always uniformly continuous, this means for finite intervals itā€™s a question about whether you can fill in the endpoints

but IDK how to take the idea of ā€œfill in the endpoints of the intervals in a way that makes the function continuousā€ to the unbounded domain case
