About the Rules & Moderation category (Part 1)

The cop thanked me and said it could have been bad

it was also 2 am though…so literally I had no reason to be there, and the fence had zero reason to be burning at 2 am

why was the fence burning

I don’t know!

I’m assuming the fire fighters still there or whatever are there to figure it ojt

I’m not there anymore I’m at ractrack

The cop said I could leave so I did

I was only there because I was a moron and misread the instructions and turned into a narrow road on accident

you were a good idiot though

I thought they were Halloween decorations until I did a uturn and then I saw it burning and then I still sat there for thirty seconds to see if it was just really realistic Halloween decorations

There were actually two different fires and one of the fence was starting to fall apart

And like I’m incoherent because 3AM I should write an actual essay here that makes this clear:

I don’t think it’s broadly bad to write characters whose personality is influenced by their gender, that’s how society works, but your writing will be better if you understand these traits properly as something that’s usually socialised into people rather than an innate part of their nature, because then you think more & better about the source of your character’s motivations & shit.

Same way Berdly’s personality as A Nerd is deeper because it understands “the expectation of being smart” is what cultivates Nerd Traits rather than actually just “being smart” itself. That but replace “smart” with male and female.

And on top of that, gender is culture-based, so if you’re writing a fantasy story with a custom culture or somethting set in anything other than your exact time and place, you should think about how gender works there, because that will make your world feel more real.

Undertale is very good at both these things, Undertale Yellow falls short at both these things because its writing is weaker overall

How does a fence catch fire in two different spots like one up and one down there

Like if you imagine a square the fence was on fire on one side then also the other side

was it particularly hot

Idk I was in my car
I did go closer to see if it was actually burning near a house

There was a lot of smoke

Like I went outside near the house not near the fire

And when I say things feel sexist I say that not as a condemnation of character or statement of Evil. All of this is quite subtle and falls way outside the evil range. It’s just, like, “an incorrect or shallow way of looking at the world”. It’s just boring writing. I say “sexist” as in, like, “subscribing (in this case accidentally) to an ideology that one’s sex (rather than gendered upbringing) is what determines their personality and interests”

It’s the same level of sin as astrology

was the weather hot
