Like I don’t think I’dve thought anything of Ceroba as A Female Character if this were a standalone game I’d just be like yeah whatever. But when you put her next to Toriel the difference is sooo apparent

the rice kinda makes me feel sickly though cause of the sauce

and it doesn’t really cook right

i don’t know if gendered = sexist

Chicken and rice and vegetables is literally the meal. It’s always there for you being completely inoffensive. I love it so much

Yeah that’s a distinction I was making earlier also. Like there’s a difference between writing characters which live under gender and therefore are affected by gender and characters which, like, are treated as if they were born into all their gendered traits

And Toriel and Asgore read really strongly as the former to me in a way I’ve realised I find very interesting

Joker voice We live in a gender

a lot of human beings are explicitly gendered
undertale’s setting lets them not be gendered and thats cool
but i think if that was applied to everything it might feel a bit off until people just… stop being gendered themselves

And specifically the younger monsters in Undertale read like they live in a fantasy society which does NOT meaningfully have gender while UTY characters don’t feel like it. And so it reads weird to have them have gendered interests/behaviour/methods of treating each other when usually their world doesn’t have that!!!

i dont think either of us are very much gendered, not that i can read myself well
but i know a few people which have basically just forced themselves into their gender role that you literally can’t seperate them from it

its pretty lame that uty does drop it though yes

Yeah. Like you can’t disentangle a person from the expectations they grew up in, it moulds how they see themselves. I find I largely moulded myself in opposition to it and more strongly express, like, the opposite of traits I was expected to have
