“The defense to make the opening statement.” He nods to nobody in particular.
“The Prosecution…” The fiery woman across from you, presumably miss Stars, begins. “Would like to indict Mortia T. Mouse for arson and attempted murder of Albert Marscapone, her ex-boyfriend.”
"And how does the defense plea? The judge asks you.
“The defense would like to bring the defendant to the stand to inquire her location during the time of the incident.”
The judge looks at you oddly. I think you get a smile off Violetta.
“Prosecution agrees.”
“Alright… Mortia Mouse, to the stand.”
The short mouse woman walks up to the stand, and looks at you. The prosecutor… sits back in her seat. She looks tired already.
Violetta begins tapping on her desk.
…It feels like we skipped a step.
“Defendant. Please introduce yourself.”
“Mortia T. Mouse! And I didn’t do it!”
Good luck, Arius.
“Very well. Where were you on the time of the incident?”
“Inside the house! I got taken out by the cops!”
Well, that’s not good.
“I assume you were referring to the house on 11th street; the location of the incident where fire broke out?”
“Yeah!!” She announces to the courtroom. You hear murmuring from the guests.
The judge seems upset about something, but keeps his silence.
“I heard that you broke up with the victim of the incident, but I shall not make hasty judgements. Why were you at the place of the incident, and what were you doing at the time of the incident?”
“I was…” Mouse begns to think. “Taking a walk. Then, I saw the house on fire, and rushed in!”
He starts to grumble. It’s something he wants you to ask about.
Arius pondered for a moment.
“If I may ask, Ms. Mouse, where is your place of residence?”
“Apartment on 3rd street.”
“Objection! Relevance?” Violetta barks.
The judge sighs. “Denied.” Violetta gives a dumbfounded look.
This feels odd, Arius.
