Definitely.

All STs run madness differently.
Does this mean we have to agree with it? Nah not necessarily.
But we at least know how it’s being run in this case.

I think usually when it comes to madness the first question you need to consider is:
Would you rather a person claim to be/not to be what they’re mad as? Or would you rather a person act as/not as what they are mad as?

A person who is the Sage for example would usually not claim Sage a ton.
So a person who agrees moreso with the first option would want someone mad as Sage to claim Sage. But a person who agrees with the second one might be like “A Sage would usually claim powerful things, so claiming something like the flowergirl or undertaker and hinting that you could be the sage would work for that.”

I personally believe that you should uphold the spirit of the madness. And usually that’s moreso by acting like the character. If I’m a mutant, I’m not going to act like an outsider as I’d be breaking it. If I’m mad as the Dreamer I’m gonna make up dreams but not tell it to everyone because a dreamer… probably wouldn’t be too public.

Yeah. Acting like you’re the role is enough in my opinion. You don’t need to actually claim that you’re the role in question.

I think you should have to do both. If the Cerenovus makes you mad as the Savant, expecting you to make up varied and powerful information, it doesn’t feel particularly in the spirit of madness to avoid claiming that role to anyone because it’s “not what a Savant to do”.

I’m of the school of thought that you gotta claim to be it in a way that a real one actually would

If I see someone ceremad as Mutant, they can say “You know what screw it, I’m Mutant and the Storyteller won’t execute me because they want to frame me” and I’ll be satisfied

If you’re mad as Sage, claim it in a way that makes sense. Say you’re the Sage, and that you don’t think the Demon’s going to kill you. Tell multiple people in private “okay, just to be clear, I’m the Sage. Help support my bluff so I can get killed. I’m only telling you this.”

What is a better homebrew than Fall of Rome? Silly question there is none.

Oh God Oh No

notably, I do not believe you should have to actually convince people, otherwise what do you do if the cerenovus chooses something obviously implausible?

Make a decent effort, deny that you are mad if that’s brought up, but if people realize it in the end, that’s fine?

“The Cerenovus has made you, the N2 kill, mad as the Sage on N5. Good luck!”

yes this sage info will be very convincing!

You were in a roleswap with the Mayor, that’s why you couldn’t share it!

so if im the mutant i can still give everyone “drunk” in my 1f1s

I’d absolutely claim to be Savant to a few people as Savant because then they can parse my information

rate my new homebrew role guys
Storyteller’s Enemy (Outsider): If you ever whisper the Storyteller, you are executed on the spot.

recommended companion characters are savant, artist, and cerenovus
