aiui, Hackmons Cup is completely random within the parameters of the format (so, level isn’t random since it’s set by the parameters of the format, but you could get Sturdy Shedinja, or a Pokémon with no attacking moves)

the thing about eternamax is that it’s bulky all hell. 255/250/250 bulk is obscene even at level 47. but its special attack is actually lower than normal eternatus’s (albeit complemented by a buff to attack for some reason? which is especially weird given that it’s only legitimately available in a plot battle where it’s not running any physical moves) and being at level 47 super super exacerbates this. so it takes almost no damage but also deals almost no damage. and just puts the game in a standstill for several turns

it’s even more annoying in gen 9 because tera changes your wincon against it to something else you can’t possibly account for (not that you can really account for wonder guard anyway)

odds of Wonder Guard are a lot higher than odds of Random Sturdinja since Wonder Guard just requires you to get a specific ability whereas Sturdinja requires you to get a specific Pokémon and a specific ability for that Pokémon
