What made the sexist plot so funny is how he got his ass handed to him by woman very early on in the series iirc
afaik Toph doesnât appear in season 1 of the liveaction, which makes sense since she also did not appear until season 2 of the actual show
so I donât know how theyâre going to handle it (but it seems to me that they could trivially just have him be ableist towards her?)
Now that I think about it, him beint sexist was used a lot, for example the haikuâs with the women, being beaten by woman, probably some more
literally the second episode
My point isnât whether toph is in the show yet, I just think Sokkaâs sexism and journey feels way different if you cut that out of his character
Hereâs My awesome Non problematic show which send s the cool & pogressive message âSexism doesnt exist actually, that guy was just arrogant it wasnt about you being a woman :)â, message hear d Through out the world every day by very progressive
Was he sexist to troch or however you spell their name
I know Troph made a bunch of blind jokes but I dunno about the other way
as a random tangent, thereâs a âscreenshotâ of an âarticleâ about how theyâre cutting either the war in Ba Sing Se, or the governmental coverup of said war, depending on the specific screenshot
and those articles were just completely fabricated, they have said no such thing
well I mean they might cut the war in Ba Sing Se if it doesnât get renewed for a second season, but
I think that by that point, Suki kinda beat it out of him, and his relationship with Yume probably helped him grow up.
Toph and Sokka were important because of Sokkaâs realization of a womanâs talent in combat. He also learned to work with women while fighting alongside toph
if they cut the Main Plot of several episodes yet still feature the other story beats from said episodes I would be Very Confused
I think if youâre writing something for very young children who havenât had substantial experience with sexism yet, itâs ~reasonable to not want to depict it and inadvertently become an introduction, but you are kidding yourself, live in a bubble, and/or are a cis man who genuinely just doesnât notice this shit if itâs not directed toward you if you think Avatarâs target audience have never heard somebody be sexist before
Thatâs doubly true given the showâs creators wanted to make this show a more mature experience overall.
[childrenâs show] handles [subject]
One of the reasons Sokka was an important character is that males 11-16 hear a lot of what Sokka heard growing up. Saying that it should be cut because young people watch is such irony
âSexism is badâ is something you canât really tell children if itâs Problematic to depict or mention sexism!
honestly 50/50 whether they do it at all well
avatar just does which is funny because a lot of its imitators very dont
