this is a total tangent but a thing that frustrates me about D&D worldbuilding is when people try to claim that hypothetical D&D people would randomly reinvent the exact system of legal rights that people accused of committing crimes in the United States have, and then apply them to truth magic
like âoh you canât/shouldnât just solve the entire justice system with Zone of Truth, obviously the Reasonable set of laws governing the use of magic in trials would allow anyone to decline to testify under truthspell, and refusing to do so would not be allowed to be taken as evidence of guiltâ
like sure if thatâs how you want to have your homebrew world work thatâs fine, you do you, but. joycat
aang had no reason to risk his life to do that the fight would have been over twice as fast if he literally just shot him with lightning

Reminds me of One Piece. I got into an argument with someone who told me the MC struggles with taking the life of people, and would never harm them unless he had to. Meanwhile said character kills thousands of fodder throughout the series

I also think that of all the punishments you could do to a guy, stripping him of the power he believes makes him inherently superior and forcing him to live with it for the rest of his life is a pretty good one.
