I’ll take my real cookies over this one – just had a fucking delicious levain dark chocolate PB with a black coffee

the singularity isn’t real by the way

it wasnt programmed to harm the crew

I gotta go

“what if we put a line on a graph and put “number of goblins” next to that line” ← this is what guys who warn about The Dangers Of AI are like

like yes yes you have a statistical model. you have not even remotely proven that it’s relevant to reality

:ghoststab:

it’s probably real just not that big of a deal

artificial intelligence is physically incapable of doing things it’s not made to do your fridge will not suddenly decide you need to go

what do you mean “it’s probably real”
what actual basis in reality does that hypothesis have except “we have created a mathematical model that says that”, when you can in fact create a mathematical model that will say anything

the idea of the singularity is basically just that ai will get really smart with people going oh no skynet we’re all gonna die

but there’s no actual proof that’s going to happen, and a lot of evidence it’s actually not going to happen at all

this will be me if the singularity ever happens

you have to actually genuinely believe that intelligence follows numerical models which is something that time and time again has proven to be very, very wrong indeed

skynet may be powerful but it’s not winning against my power hose

on one hand if ai continues to improve it’s going to become smarter than a person eventually
on the other hand i’ve seen chatgpt

and most of all you have to somehow think that technology follows an exponential curve because, like, some guy put the number of transistors on a graph and that graph starts in 1740 for some reason

why didn’t they just soak the terminator in water
are they stupid

i’ve done enough historical research to tell you that technology just does not work the way that bizarre libertarians tell you it does, and quite frankkly, I barely know anything in terms of actual analysis, I’ve just seen a lot of data to suggest that

i am relatively sure a lot of people are mistaking a bell curve for exponential growth
