That means mafia are guaranteed not to hit into them; without roles, the value of a protective is less “ensuring somebody survives until tomorrow” and more “potentially giving us extra misexecutions by slowing the game”

If mafia have some way of roleblocking/bypassing protective they know exactly when and where to use it
