How to play:
We at Fortress of Lies University value hard work and commitment above all else. That’s why, to remedy our entire student body failing MATH 1000: Numbers and Words, we’re offering extra credit in the form of Math Pass, a fun and easy way to get your grade back in the green!
The rules are simple:
- Solve each question, using the answers from each question to answer the following one.
- The first player to solve the final question wins.
- You can use a calculator and the Internet, but no AI and no other outside help.
We believe that people are capable of making mistakes as long as they never get caught fix those mistakes. As such, we’re offering this spectacular opportunity ahead of our meeting with our sponsors. We highly encourage you all to take this opportunity.

The Questions
Question 1:
I have a function: f(a, b) = 2a + 3b - 2ab + 3
.
Solve for f(f(5, 2), f(2, 5))
.
Question 2:
Let A be the answer for Question 1.
You have an [A]-sided two-dimensional shape. It has X angles that are 140 degrees, with the rest of the angles in the shape being 160 degrees.
Solve for X.
Question 3:
Let B be the answer for Question 2.
You have [B] gallons of rubbing alcohol that’s 80% alcohol, and you want to bring it down to 60% alcohol to comply with local regulations. To do this, you have a mixture that’s 25% alcohol.
How many gallons of the mixture do you need to do that?
Question 4:
Let C be the answer for Question 3.
The faculty has 12 students - all entirely indistinguishable from each other because no one actually read their application essays - to place into [C] different classes. Each class must have at least one student, and all students must be placed in a class.
How many sets of possible class sizes are there? Class A having 2 students and Class B having 6 students is considered distinct from Class A having 6 students and Class B having 2 students.

- Submit your answer to the hosts in your rolecard. The first correct answer wins (we will make an announcement once someone has won). Answers can be submitted multiple times, but hosts hold the right to refuse your submissions if we feel you’re just spamming answers.
